Is it just me, or has the world of politics turned upside down?

Time was I'd be ready to believe that Saddam Hussien is nothing more than a war-mongering tyrant. And while I do still think that of him, he seems to be reacting differently when it comes to current relations between himself and United States President George W. Bush.

Here is what I think is upside down about this. Hussien is pushing for negotiations in this instance. Meanwhile, George W. Bush is pushing for war like a salivating doberman, impatient for his chance to bomb Saddam and everything his subjects love into the 11th layer of hell. Bush doesn't want to continue inspections. In fact, how many inspections have gone by? One? Yeah, that's it. One. And now Bush is trying to leap into a gigantic war. Saddam, the war-mongering tyrant from before, is striving for negotiations.

So what does this mean? Well, in this instance, it means that George W. is a war-monger. And how does he win the support of the US? By getting all of his associates and his suboordinates in the Pentagon to give as many speeches as they can that all pertain to how dangerous Saddam is, and how if the US doesn't act as quickly and irrationally as possible, they may be bombed to hell in a handbasket. The result? US citizens jump on the bandwagon because these elected officials scare them so shitless, they'd be lucky to be able to piss straight, much less make a rational, well thought out decision. So once again, America is ruled by fear. They are told every day of their lives of something else that they need to be afraid of. With all the fear that's ruled Americans for so long, it's no surprise that so many citizens jumped on Bush's war wagon. I mean, doesn't he or anyone high up in the American government realize the consequences of this? The lives that are going to be lost? He's going to be sending living breathing human beings away to die. And when they do die, what's are the people to think? Will they think that their sons, fathers and brothers died honorably? Or will they see the truth, that all of those troops will have died needlessly?

This also means that Saddam is acting... out of character. Instead of egging Bush on, and trying to provoke a full-blown war, he's saying "Okay okay, wait a second here. Let's sit down and talk about this." Hell, they're even destroying their armaments! And Bush is still pushing for war! This is an atrocity.

Ever since Bush has come into office, the economy has started taking a huge dive. This is partly due to 9/11, but it was failing before then as well. And it's definitely not doing too well right now. As such, is Bush's motive behind starting a war of this magnitude to draw attention away from the failing economy? Is this Texan President so heartless? So cold and soulless? Well, it's safe to say that it's true of Saddam. He has routinely killed his own citizens and even tried to assassinate his own son.

The thing is though, that George W. Bush is the leader of one of the most powerful nations in the world. He should be setting an example by trying to move forward to reach a peaceful solution. But then, is it also possible that Saddam is only putting up this peaceful front so that people would form opinions like mine?

And don't even get me started on Tony Blair.

Anyway, I wrote a neat monologue for a story. I wanted to show it off, so I put it online. It's right here to view it. Hope you enjoy it.

T.A.T.U. and Tears For Fears forever!

1:04 AM

The Saturday previous to this entry, I finally got my first computer. And it's mine, all mine. I'm just having fun with it, configuring it and waiting to upgrade its sorry ass. It's not a great comp, but it gets the job done, which is what I'm looking for from it. As long as it continues to do so, it shall be my baby.

In the meantime, I'm hooked on T.A.T.U.'s debut single "All The Things She Said". It's quite a catchy song. I was even able to find a remix of it. Sweet.

My friend Troy will, hopefully, be able to help me get a job at a nearby Zellars. With money, I'll be able to upgrade this computer, or get a new one altogether. Either way, I'm not sure what I'd do with this thing. Maybe keep it as a messaging center while I use my other computer for games and such. It might work. And then, of course, hook the whole thing up to a 5-speaker stereo system.

All I need is that job, dammit.
