I bought two games today because one of them was a lot cheaper than I thought it was. I got Super Mario Sunshine and Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II. Here are my reviews.
Star Wars:
This game is excellently fun right from the get go. There are all sorts of clips from New Hope, Empire, and Jedi that play in the background while you're fiddling with your option menus. Throughout the game, you'll control Luke Skywalker and/or Wedge Antilles through a variety of missions, some within the original trilogy, and some without. The first mission (which I have yet to pass) is the famous Death Start attack run from New Hope, complete with a race down the trench and communications between you and your wingmen. It's hard to find enemies right away, but with a handy press of your Y button, you'll turn on the targeting computer, which will help immensely. The controls are easy to grasp and very intuitive, especially since they mimic the control scheme from Wing Commander for the Super NES. The sounds and music are 100% authentic, complete with the familiar Star Wars theme and scrolling introduction.
Super Mario Sunshine:
This game is one of the best Mario games to come along in a while. It's incredibly fun, involves all the buttons and makes use of your coordination as well as your exploratory prowess. FLUDD takes a little getting used to in terms of aiming, but overall, the game is running, hopping platforming/adventure game fun. There are people to interact with (and soak if you so desire), funny monsters to defeat and water. Lots and lots of water. Is it just me, or is Shigeru Miyamoto obsessed with water lately? I mean, you've got this and then you've got Wind Waker.
My only complaint about this game (which is a big complaint, but it doesn't detract from the game any) is the camera. Unlike most games out there, the camera in Super Mario Sunshine collides with objects, leaving it to get trapped behind things while you're left controlling Mario's shadow hoping for the best. Other than that though, this game is nonstop pure fun. The light mood and funny voice acting might have you thinking that this is a kiddy game, which it is. But what's wrong with that? Since when are video games a gauge for your maturity?
Overall, both of these games come with my personal recommendation. Go get them for your 'Cube. You won't be sorry.

Saturday, May 3rd 2003 was my 23rd birthday. Of course, if you've looked at the rather extensively boring list at the left of this blog, you'd know that. But most people don't. Send me a belated birthday card or something. Or a female. You know which one I mean. Yes, you.
I am very pissed off at Sam Milne right now. He was given 4 more hours to his work week. 4 hours. And what did he do? He quit. With two days notice. Now, I have to pull 3 graveyard shifts out of my ass this week instead of two, and I have to struggle to get used to a new site anyway as it is, since Pointe of View Condominiums has decided to start its own security force, beginning at the site where I used to be stationed. So now I have to cover for that little shit and still pull off my shifts. Of course, should I really complain? It's more money. And it's an easier site.
Anyway, let's see...I decided to add a "My Desktop" link to the side so you could see what my desktop currently looks like. Just something fun to do. The rather ravishing young lady in the picture is my friend Laura (Who hasn't been acting like one to me, but meh). If you want to read her Live Journal, just click on the link on the side that reads "Miyu". I respond to her posts and joke around and such there.
Not much else to post... I got a stuffed ducky from Chrissy, which will definitely help me with sleeping at night. Hehe... it's like having an ethereal rope with which to attach myself to her. I don't know how better to explain it. I also got a new game for my Game Cube. Spider-Man. It's an awesome game. I love it greatly. Well, you know what I mean.
I made a dinky little story about my Game Cubes for some reason. Click here.
As you can see, I seriously cannot find much to write about. Time to end this before it gets worse. Until next time.
