Should have stayed in bed yesterday.

First, I had tons of trouble sleeping in the first place. So I was up at 9 in the morning after 2 hours or so of sleep. I went to bed so late/early because I have a bunch of graveyards coming up, so I have to sleep during the day. I went to a friend's house on the weekend and neglected to let Chrissy know, which naturally worried her. So I got chewed out by her.

Later, my brother chewed me out for not cleaning the hallway. So I did that and finally went to bed for about 2 hours.

Then after that, at work, Christina and Ken both chewed me out together for taking some time to sit down and get off my feet for more than 10 minutes. I was sitting down for something like 40 minutes, which I admit I shouldn't have done... but still.

I guess yesterday was declared "International Yell At Dan Day". I've never felt so much guilt over so many different things in my life. To my recollection.

Today, I spent over $170 trading in my Game Boy Advance for a Game Boy Advance SP. I also bought Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Game Cube. I wanted to by Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo for the GBA, but EB didn't have it. I'm going to Wal-Mart later to see if they might have it. In the meantime, here is my review of the GBASP and SSBM.

Game Boy Advance SP: As far as I can tell, the SP is just a marker to tell it apart from the original GBA. There were two colors for me to choose from; silver and cobalt. Naturally, I went with cobalt. The GBA SP comes with its own screen light for those dark times of day. In a lit area, the light is useless, so it follows that in a dark room, the light provides the best benefit. The GBA SP also folds in half like a tricorder from Star Trek, which is awesome for protecting your screen and keeping it clean. It is quite a bit smaller than I realized and not as comfortable as the original GBA, but the buttons are placed very well.

Speaking of the buttons, abandon every familiarity you've ever had with Game Boy buttons. These ones are sunken in, and are much easier to access and press accurately. It comes with its own AC adapter, and its own rechargeable lithium battery built in, so you don't have to spend extra on new batteries or something to plug it into the wall. With the light off, the battery is good for about 18 hours of gameplay. With it on, probably about 12 to 15 hours. If you have a GBA, it will be worth it for you to take it to EB and get the $25 off towards a GBA SP. Definitely recommended.

Super Smash Bros. Melee: This game can be summed up in two easy to read words: DAMN. FUN. Not only is it lots of great fun to wallop on Nintendo's own franchises AS Nintendo's own franchises, there are also platforming strategies to think about, as well as learning when your opponents are ready to be smashed out of the ring. The music is fantastic, the graphics are crisp and sharp, and the controls are more spot on than any fighting game to date. Ever wanted to shove Mario's plunger up a Pokemon's hind end? Well, you might be able to do it figuratively as you take control of everyone's favorite plumber and use him to pound Pikachu into a bloody Pika pulp. As for replayability, there are TONS of things to get here. There are trophies to acquire and earn, and that's only a millionth of it. Test your skills in the event rounds, or unlock characters by testing yourself in grueling battles to the finish. A must have for anyone with a Game Cube. And for those without a Cube, a damn good reason to GET one.

Hopefully later today, I'll have a review of Super Puzzle Fighter II for the GBA to put here.
