I am on the edge of tears.

Tonight, I talked with my brother and mom about my birth, my mom's life, and my brother's life. In those talks, I realized that both my mom and brother have been through a lot in life, more than I. They've pulled through to become better people than they were. They've grown stronger.

When my mom was pregnant with me, she lost ten pounds. She was in her own jeans until about 8 months into the pregnancy. After I was delivered, she had lost ten more pounds.

My birth was a tragedy in itself. Not only was my mother toxic, unable to take care of herself, and in pain all the time, but I nearly died during my birth. My heartrate was drastically dropping off during the labor, so I was born through Caesarian-Section. My dad didn't think that I was his child. To this day, I'm sure he still doesn't think it, but that's not the point. So it's a miracle that I'm even alive to make this entry, if you want to look at it that way.

A few years later, my mom went back to Ben (my "dad") whom she had left before I was born. When she was pregnant with my brother, she had terrible morning sickness that lasted all day. She had heard of an anti-morning sickness drug that was supposed to be safe from causing all birth defects. She took one pill and left the rest of the box on the kitchen counter of Ben's house. She went outside for a while, taking me with her. No one else was over that day, and Ben was away, probably at work. Mom was the only one home. When she came back in with me (I was all of 2 years old at the time), she found the box missing. She searched the house top to bottom, backwards and forwards. The box was nowhere to be found. To this very day, the three of us believe that it was a spirit of some kind who came in and took the box. Why? Because the drug was found to cause birth defects. My brother's life had been saved, and he wasn't even out of the womb.

My brother's birth was easy. Right from day 1, they knew he was going to be a C-Section, so as soon as it was time for the birth, he was born. Mom was still toxic and sick when she had him, but they weren't as unsure about the survival of both the baby and mother this time around. It wasn't until a year later that mom left Ben for good, and came to live here in Calgary.

It then begs these questions from me. Why was I almost dead, when my brother was saved from medicine months before he was even due? Why have I always been in the background adding to the scenery while my brother and mom take on the important tasks in the world? Since my brother WAS saved from a drug that would have deformed him in one way or another, does that mean he's more important than me? Does this mean that I'm just garbage? Refuse, excess waste? Does it mean I'm nothing? Or do I just have some higher purpose that I don't know about, which means that I have to be tested a little harder than I think is fair?

I don't even know my purpose in life. I love music, but I'm not very good at it. What am I supposed to change? Am I just here to exist? To just be? Or am I destined to actually affect something in a worthwhile way?

I'm 23 years old and I feel like I'm 2.

1:08 AM

I spent this weekend over at Sam and Jenn's place playing video games. It was a lot of fun. We played Super Smash Bros. Melee for a few hours. That game is super fun with four players. So is Mario Kart Double Dash. It was a good weekend.

I also played F-Zero GX, and ended up beating the first four grand prix cups on the hardest difficulty. It was quite a surprise, since I used to be horrible at the game. Now, since I've been completing the Story Mode, I claimed the Master difficulty trophies in about 2 hours. All that's left for me to unlock now are six hidden parts, and three hidden cars. That's kind of scary, but still a ton of work, since the missions that unlock the parts and cars are horrendously difficult. But possible.

For some reason, the idea of Jaymie and Jay crossed my mind tonight, as it has the past few nights. I guess it's affected me for the worst a lot more than I thought. I require more time to process this information before I can really rant about it though.

Well, it's past midnight and I'm quite sleepy, so I'm gonna go to bed. Be well.
