Alexandra Mae Monroe
Alexandra was born to a drug-addicted teen parent and taken away by child services when she was only a year old. She’s never met her birth mother or father, and has never had any interest in finding them. Luckily, she was adopted very quickly by an older couple that were unable to conceive a child on their own. She grew up happy with a loving family, and may even be just a little bit spoiled and unaware of how harsh the world can be.
Her passion for cooking started when she was little, in the kitchen with her mom learning old family recipes. Straight out of highschool she went to a culinary institute. After graduation she intended to work towards starting her own restaurant or bakery. Things didn’t go quite as easily as she planned, though. She needed actual experience and found herself bouncing around a few different places, never seeming able to keep her savings growing. She’s been the head chef or baker at a couple of renowned restaurants, but hasn’t been able to make the dream of opening her own place come true.
A strange twist of luck came through her Producer Boyfriend. He was working on a new show, and his Director fell head over heels with Alexandra’s “screen presence” after their original famous host dropped out of the project. It took a little convincing, but Alexandra rose to the occasion. Their first season was a HUGE success and they’re now filming for their second season.
Alexandra is a charming woman that seems to always have command of a room, without ever pushing her weight around. She’s got a keen eye for details and a way with people. She wants more than anything for everyone to get along and be happy, but she’s also not afraid to be the boss and tell people things they may not want to hear. Her advice is always sound and from the heart. ..unfortunately, she’s not so good at following her own advice!
The thing holding Alexandra back from accomplishing her goals is that she tends to step aside and lift other people up first. “I have time, but they need it more right now.” Even though she makes good money, she gives a lot of it to her family to support their business, and school, and medical bills. She lives well, but her savings are always shy of being enough to invest in her own business. Being the host of this show is also not something she wanted for herself, she signed on because it was a big deal for her boyfriend’s career. Alexandra isn’t struggling, so she feels other people deserve these opportunities more. She can always get what she wants later.
She really, really, really loves dogs. But her apartment doesn’t allow them, and now she travels too much with her job.
If she could focus on one thing, it’d be baking. Baking is her favorite.
She’s not a very outdoorsy person. Inside is better. She likes comfy homey settings, but with a splash of upscale flashiness. A good bed and breakfast would be her favorite get-away. If you dropped her in the middle of nowhere without a phone, she’d have a tiny heart attack and freak out before she finally got herself together.
She is the kind of feminine girly girly that you never see wearing anything outside of cute dresses and skirts. The only time she’s not wearing a dress is when she’s in full chef’s gear. (And even then she might have just slipped her coat on over a dress). Alexandra would never wear a t-shirt or jeans.
