[dot]A continuation of this game! Characters are currently battling foes in Germany. Aidan and Sasha were checking out a biker bar following what looked like very suspicious bikers. Dane and Kendal were getting coiled by a magical snake![/dot]

[dotted=http://space-kitten.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=14]Aidan
First thing Aidan did was duck has soon as Sasha scowled, as that usually meant someone was about to clobber him from behind. All the glass in the bar had chimed as if struck by something, and it made an impressive enough sound that all of the bikers in the bar immediately took notice. Sasha was placed back down on the ground, and all the men had backed up several paces.

“Uh… you know. We ain’t looking for trouble from any wizards and witches and what not. We just came here for vacation. You know, a little rest and relaxation from our dailies duties back in the Elk Order.”

Aidan was trying to figure out exactly what the Elk Order was when something across the room caught his attention. A person had been watching them, but as soon as Aidan noticed they had ducked behind the door and disappeard. “Sasha, I think we oughta try that door back there.” he motioned towards it with a finger.

The large serpent started to sway and just as it was about to dart and possibly swallow Dane whole, Kendal stomped on it’s tale. It’s massive jaws snapped right in Dane’s face as it fell short of it’s prey. Hissing the head spun around towards Kendal opening it’s jowls ready to strike again!

Kendal took a step of two backwards. What was a giant snake like this doing in a sleepy little town? No good, for sure. When it darted forward at her the same way it dived for Dane, Kendal ducked out of the way, circling around it so she could stand in front of the man.

“Where’s you gun, Dane?” she muttered quickly. But it was too late, as the snake flipped it’s coil around the pair and curled around them!

[dash]Sasha

“Elk Order, hu?” The name Sasha was willing to admit was not familiar. She would have to ask Kendal, her sister was the one that knew about all the odd groups. Having a reporter in the family could be handy at times.

What Sasha wanted to do now was not leave though. They at least showed enough sense to put her down, though she was surprised by that. Most people wouldn’t have been intimidated by her. Not at first. Knowing what caught there attention would have been useful. Too bad Aidan wanted to leave.

If he’d just wanted to leave out the door they came in to she’d guess he just wanted to get out of a bad situation. That would be reasonable. Instead though he wanted to go another way. This made her curious.

“Alright. Lead the way. Next time gents maybe we’ll stay around for a drink.” Sasha waved at them as they exited the other door. She was more direct with Aidan once they were out of sight. “What is it?” [/dash]

“I figured we must be snooping in the right direction, cause someone back here was spying on us.” he commented, leading the way to the back door. He carefully moved it open and peered inside. All was clear, just a hallway in to the back of the building. Aidan half wondered why no one seemed to be interested in stopping them from having a look, but if their reaction to Sasha was any indication, maybe he had already answered his question.

Aidan followed the hallway until it ended at another door. There were other doorways in the hall, but they were all open and pretty empty. Just a few storage rooms with food, furniture and the lot. When Aidan opened the door, he heaved a heavy sigh. Once again it was a staircase leading down to what he hoped was a cellar, but more likely than not it was a tomb, a cult, or if they were really unlucky, the underground lair of a dragon king.

He rubbed his head. “Want me to go first?”

“You’re already in front,” Sasha said with a shrug. Her curiosity was piqued. Was this person Aidan saw somehow involved in the coincidence of her sister and Skipster ending up here in Germany as well. Sasha had almost been willing to enjoy her little exile until those two showed up. Now it was business.

As they walked down the stairs, the lights stayed constantly lit. No strange power fluxes, no change to torches or candles. In fact when they got to the bottom of the stairs the cellar it didn’t look too dissimilar to her cellar back home.

“At least it’s not Halloween,” Sasha couldn’t help but grin at Aidan. The first time he was in her cellar at Autumn Manor was during the annual Halloween Party there. They had gotten locked in the cellar and some vengeful wizard had animated zombies in there. It had really annoyed Sasha that someone had planted zombies on her property but at the time she was trying to take care of the more immediate problem of not getting killed. The trick was doing so without Aidan realizing the rumors about her family were only half the truth.

“Halloween here might actually be kind of spooky.” Of course, he was looking at a perfectly normal cellar with no strange or spooky things about it. It seemed they walked right in to a dead end.

Aidan didn’t like the thought that he might have been hallucinating a spy – not that it would be the first time he had hallucinated stuff… or the first time he saw something that decided it’d disappear in to thing air – but at the moment he just had that feeling it was better to figure this stuff out before it got any worse.

He moved a few crates out of the way as he started looking around. “Why would a biker gang be dealing with some sorcerer or wizard, do you think? I figure it’s not worth the trouble if you’ve already got your posse…”

“Maybe the only reason they’re together as a gang is because of an outside influence. Or perhaps this is the type of place that a lot of odd folks hang out at.” Sasha looked around trying to see if there was anything out of the ordinary. Yet it just seemed like exactly what it was, a storage cellar.

A dusty old cellar that might be used once a month. There was dust flying around from Aidan moving crates. With a thoughtful frown she looked at the ground, there was a thin layer of dust and a few footprints. Also there was a path that seemed to have been swept up, leading right to the wall.

“What about over there?” she asked pointing to the spot at the wall.

Aidan followed yhe footprints in the dust and as he reached the wall, he was rubbing his chin in thought. Yep, the old disappearing wall trick! Now usually there was a switch of some sort. He tried the wall sconces, the light fixture, and even stuck his foot in the mouse hole – but nothing budged.

“It doesn’t look like it’s gonnAAH!” Aidan made the grand miscalculation of leaning on the wall, which gave it enough pressure to send him rolling down yet another flight of stairs! He was OH, EI, AH, OWing all the way down!

“AIDAN!” Running to the wall, Sasha looked down and saw the DJ crumbled up at the bottom of the flight of stairs. Making sure not the trip herself, Sasha scampered down and knelt down beside Aidan.

“Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?” If that wasn’t enough to worry about, there was a high pitch squeal from a multitude of voices. “No, please no!”

Aidan groaned. Not because he was broken in to a million pieces, or bruised to hell and back (because he was fine, if not completely embarrassed), but because he knew exactly what was coming.

“Oh! He’s hurt! Do something, sisters!” squealed one of dozens of faeries that were now frittering around Aidan and Sasha.

“Wait, he’s okay! Oh thank goodness!” Aidan was then swarmed with a mass of faeries that were trying to give him faerie sized kisses, which prompted him to quickly sit up and start swatting the little bodies away.

“We’re doing a bit of work here, ladies.. That can wait…!” he coughed out!

“Work?” Tiny voices asked with such inquisitiveness. “Job! We must do our job. Yes! Come come. Come with us!”

Sasha glared at the fae. She didn’t want to follow them. She didn’t want anything to do with Aidan’s little fangirls! She was about to dismiss the whole idea when she realized she was being if nothing else, silly. Aidan didn’t exactly want their attention, and furthermore why did she care how Aidan felt about them. She was loosing the battle with herself.

“Oh fine, what do you want to show us?” Sasha relented enough to start following them.

“Who, not what, who!”

[dashed=http://space-kitten.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=14]Aidan

Dusting himself off, Aidan fixed his jacket, and wiped off faerieberry lipstick from his face. “Who?” he questioned, reluctant to follow them, considering they were the cause for all this trouble in the first place. But against his better judgment, Aidan started after them if at least to get them to stop pulling at his hair.

Thankfully it seemed all that noise hadn’t alerted the villain, for he was one impressively scary dude. It was the classic evil lair scene, one that Aidan was beginning to think was standard for every evil doer, of the grand sorcerer standing before his elaborate alter set up in front of a giant statue. It was made of bronze and gold, the body of a man and the head of an elk, carrying a huge sword and looking nearly live with the strange light.

Aidan paused and turned to Sasha. “I think I’m under armed for this one…”

Sasha was more than willing to agree with this assessment. This man did not look like the type one wanted to fool around with. More than ever she wish she knew something about the Elk Order.

“He’s here! He’s here!” squealed the fairies to the sorcerer. Sasha could have wished they were all trapped in a giant spider web right about now.

“I have told you before, I do not care about him, I care about,” What he cared about he did not say for he had turned around and saw Aidan and Sasha. “Thank the mighty lord. You are our savior.”

He was looking at Sasha, but he seemed unsure, as though he found her lacking, or missing something. Whatever it was Sasha didn’t like it and crossed her arms. “Oh?”

“The red hair, dark eyes… Oh yes, there is two, not just one.” said the sorcerer, who had then gone on to completely ignore Sasha and walk back towards the monumental statue. He threw out his arms in its glory!

“Behold, great god of mine! One half of the savior! Once the other half is retrieved you will be revived from the pits of hell and reborn on a brand new world! OHOHOHOHO!” He was mad… or perhaps a genius! He suddenly turned around and smiled at his guests!

“Silly me! I should explain. I’m Harold, head of the Elk’s and every year we stage this silly little ceremony for kicks. It’s all a big show, lights and floor dancing. Lots of fun, and the boys come around for miles! We always picked up a couple people who have ‘the gifts’, if you know what I mean, and give them a little thrill!”

Aidan was… speechless to say the least. If this was all a big joke, he wasn’t sure he found it funny.

[dashed=http://space-kitten.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=116]Sasha

“You… ah… WHAT?” Sasha was really not prepared for this. She was somehow summoned out to the middle of Germany to playact for a yearly festival? Sasha wasn’t sure if she wanted to laugh or cry. It was by and large the stupidest thing she had ever heard.

“Why us?” It wasn’t so much a question to Harold as to the powers that be. “Why both of us?” If she wasn’t careful she was going to go with option two and Sasha hated looking weak in front of others. Now was not the time to start crying because of overly wound up nerves.

Sasha might have been able to deal with it a bit better if the damn pixies were not doting on Aidan again. “So now what?” Sasha grumbled, realizing that trying to get out of this would not be impossible, but likely more work that it was worth.

Dane finally remembered the gun when Kendal mentioned it and pulled it out from behind him. As the snake’s coils tightened around them, he aimed the gun at the serpent’s head and fired.

Only to get a loud, empty CLICK! in response!

“Damn.” He growled. The snake wasn’t too happy about being fired at and bared its fangs as it raised its head ten feet in the air. It hissed and its head came charging down, ready to eat Dane whole!

Dane struggled for all he was worth and, at the last minute, came free! He fell forward on top of Kendal. The snake’s fangs came gliding past, grazing the back of his shirt, and into its own body! It immediately hissed and released itself, beginning to writhe in pain. Its coils loosened and Dane and Kendal went tumbling free!

[solid=http://space-kitten.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=21]Kendal

“Ugfph!” The damned man had to fall on her twice! But thankfully, that was it for the snake. It’s own bite had the snake melting with it’s poisons. A true magically created critter if she ever saw one. The trouble was finding out who made it, and putting and end to them. A nice painful end.

Before pushing Dane away she pressed a finger to his back in one of those holes now left in his shirt. No bite holes or poison, and she didn’t cast an actual spell, so there was no reason for her to seem at all suspicious. Even if he did feel a tingle at his back.

“You’re walking around with an unloaded gun.” she said, as if she needed to point out the obvious. It wasn’t often she could barb Dane, so she took the opportunity when it came.

Something caught her attention from the corner of her eye. A person, wearing a big hooded cloak of all things. If that weren’t the most over done stereotypical- She immediately moved to follow. If Dane wanted to babysit her, he was going to have to keep up!

Alarice – Jun 12, 2008 at 5:14 AM

“It was filled with ammo when we started,” Dane pointed out. “No one told me we were going on a little trip thousands of miles away.” He looked up to see Kendal already up and running somewhere. He swore under his breath and took off after her.

Kendal went through some trees and he wondered where she was leading him. He couldn’t see who she was chasing as they weaved around trees and through brush. Leaves, branches, rocks, and dirt were flying this way and that.

[solid=http://space-kitten.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=21]Kendal

Kendal stopped pursuing when the trail ended at a cave. Resting her hands on her hips, she debated the wisdom of chasing a cloaked figure in to something dark and ominous. She wasn’t worried about anything happening to herself. But then there was Dane. If whomever it was could summon four people across the world, then they weren’t going to be very pleasant to deal with.

“You should stay out here. Unless I scream, then I suppose you could come charging in.” She knew he wouldn’t stay put, but she felt better saying it anyway. She started in to the cave, walking slow enough for her eyes to adjust to the dark and being carefully aware of any traps that might be sprung.

She wasn’t disappointed, for as soon as they were far enough inside the ground gave way and crumbled beneath their feet, sending them sliding down and dropping in to… a cage! On the plus side, this time she landed on Dane!

“Ah ha! Just like a witch. Following the dark mysterious cloaked figure right in to a trap.” The person laughed at the lights came on – with electricity even – and he threw off the cape! He looked like… some damned biker dude wearing elk horns! “Hey Frankie, go let Harold know we have the other one! He can start his ceremony now!” Waving at his two captives in the cave the figure marched on towards a door. “Now, don’t you two try escaping. It’s a 100% magic proof cage.” He chortled as he left!

Aidan had a feeling that there was a lot more to this than some over done festival, but Sasha wasn’t looking to good. And for him, he cared more about Sasha than what mister Crazy Cloak was going on about.

Scratching his head, he glanced around slowly. “How about we have a seat back there on one of those benches and see if we can’t take a break and think things out.” The faeries then squealed about how smart he was. Aidan ignored them. Without giving Sasha any chance to reply, he had already took her hand as was pulling her towards a seat.

Sasha was not one to have issue about sitting at this point and let Aidan drag her over to a bench. Sasha sat down, glancing at Harold with a frown. She figured it was likely best to try to ignore the damn pixies, why where they bothering her so much! “I hate to say admit this, but I think we need to try to call Kendal before these people get too worked up. Surely she’ll know something about this.”

It was a sensible solution to a problem that was getting Sasha more and more confused. All Sasha had to do was call Kendal and make a plan. It didn’t matter that Harold was still in the room with them if he tried to make an issue to anything she did, well, she would make sure he’d learned what kind of mistake it was to make issues with her.

THUD!

Dane groaned as something knocked the air out of him. He wasn’t exactly sure how he’d ended up here. One moment he’d stopped outside of the cave and watched Kendal disappear inside. He’d been about to chase after her when he’d heard a branch snap behind him. He had turned around and BAM! Darkness. He’d just woken up inside of this cage before being toppled by–

It moved and he turned to his side to see, “Kendal!”

“Ah ha! Just like a witch. Following the dark mysterious cloaked figure right in to a trap. Hey Frankie, go let Harold know we have the other one! He can start his ceremony now! Now, don’t you two try escaping. It’s a 100% magic proof cage.”

Dane started checking the cage out. 100% magic proof, eh? Then they’d just have to find a non-magical way out of this can.

[solid=http://space-kitten.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=21]Kendal

“I’m starting to miss Elswen where all the weird stuff isn’t nearly as cliche.” Kendal grumbled, rubbing the bruises she earned from that fall. Nothing was 100% magical proof, but Kendal wasn’t about to start trying. Dane already had the right idea while he was examining the cage.

Kendal’s cellphone rang. Pulling it out of her pocket, she answers. “Sasha, we’re in a-” SCREEEEECH~!! She jerked the phone away from her ear as she winced at the sound! What do you know. They blocked magical communication too. Flipping the phone shut, she stuffed it back in her pocket to help Dane figure out that cage.

Kendal tried the most obvious way of trying to squeeze through the bars. It actually looked like it was going to work until- she was stuck. Hrrm. Grossly underestimated the size of her hips. Kendal twist and hissed at Dane. “Stop snickering and help me!”

[/solid]

[dashed=http://space-kitten.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=14]Aidan

Aidan sat down next to Sasha, silent as he handed her his phone to contact Kendal. The sudden screech out of the thing came as a painful shock. He was sticking his finger in his ears trying to shake out the ringing. “Bad reception?”

A new person had stopped by talking to ‘Harold’, and the guy looked pretty damned happy about whatever news he was given. He shouted loudly to the empty room, mostly for Sasha and Aidan’s benefit. “WONDERFUL! You sister has agreed to be a part of our show and is being prepared as we speak! This is going to be a most glorious festival!”

That was it! Sasha handed Aidan back his cellphone and stood up. With the announcement that her sister had ‘agreed’ to join in, Sasha knew she couldn’t just let things play out. Kendal wasn’t for playing along with things.

“In that case I think I should go and get dressed up. We’ll be leaving now.”

The guy that just came in frowned. “No, you can’t leave. You need to stay here with Harold.”

Sasha tried to get every irritated thought out of her mind and she looked at the man, assuming her was a man. “But how can you expect me to be seen by others looking like THIS! I’m a mess.” Sasha wondered if she could actually pull this off or if everything was going to end up a mess.

Dane’s first reaction to Kendal getting stuck was pure shock. His second was to snicker. He couldn’t help himself. She just looked so damn … funny!

“Stop snickering and help me!”

Dane quickly sobered up and moved toward her. “Do you want me to push you out or pull you back in?” He tilted his head slightly, trying to figure out which would be easier.

The two men looked at each other, unsure of what to do. It was clear they wanted her to stay, but they didn’t seem all that intend on forcing her to stay which was a very mixed signal.

Aidan chimed in. “She’s right. I’m in the radio business, and I know from experience if a girl doesn’t get in to the right clothes, she just can’t perform.”

Harold finally nodded. “Then.. yes, do go change! But your guest should stay here. We don’t want him to lose his seat when the crowds come in!”

That wasn’t quite what Aidan was expecting, but he was willing to throw himself under a bus for a few minutes while Sasha figured out what was really happening around here. “You can go ahead. What trouble could I get in to, with a pack of faeries” He flashed her his trademark grin.

[/dashed]

[solid=http://space-kitten.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=21]Kendal

“Push me out, Dane. Cause if you don’t I’m going to put your head through these bars!” There wasn’t much time to start pushing, as someone entered the room again.

And promptly started laughing. “Oy, tried it the old fashioned way, huh? Them last witches weren’t as clever!” He was still standing there just a cackling, not seeming to make a move to stop or help.

Kendal scowled. “Considering I’m not a witch, I’m sure that IS funny.” she said dryly.

“Oy? Not a witch? Thas gonna make the boss men all cross. Seeing they were looking for two witches for their fancy ceremony and all.”

“Why the hell do all of you speak English when we’re in Germany!”

“Cause this town ain’t in Germany. Man, you really aren’t a witch if you didn’t know that!” He howled with laughter again as he left, muttering something about telling his bossmans the bad news!

“Not in- How the devil did that happen.” she muttered, giving up her struggle to be free of the bars. Sometimes she wondered just exactly what she was doing wrong. Or not doing wrong.

[/solid]

====

Alarice – Jun 20, 2008 at 6:29 AM

“Let’s worry about that later,” Dane suggested. He was just as confused as she was but he was more than happy to worry about finding the answers later. “Right now, we have to find Aidan and Sasha. I’ll try and push you out.” He didn’t know how much time they had left before those guys came back but he wanted to make the best of every second they had.

“Alright. Here I go.” Dane took a hold of her hips and began to push.

Kendal yelped as she suddenly popped out of the bars and went crashing to the floor. She hopped back to her feet, her face red as she dusted herself off. Quite possibly because she had the entirely wrong mental image of the whole scene, Dane’s hands on her hips amongst other things she was pretty damned sure she shouldn’t have been thinking about.

The cage was magic proof, but it didn’t stop her when she fetched the keys off a table and unlocked the door to release Dane. “Don’t know about you, but I’m about ready to take a short cut and we’re going to pretend like you didn’t see it.” She moved to the wall and knocked her hand on it twice. A doorknob appeared. “If you’re ready?”

“Well I guess there’s no reason for you to come too,” was what Sasha might have said, but she was not pleased with this, not one bit. If Aidan hadn’t all but volunteered to stay she was certain she could think up an excuse for him to come with her while keeping up the stupid act. Instead she was going to have to leave him here.

“I shouldn’t be too long.” She returned his smile with one of her own. She hoped it was convincing. Not to Aidan, but to Harold.

Sasha then turned and walked out the door Aidan and she originally found and was back in the cellar. Looking around she took a deep breath and headed up the stairs and into the hall, running right into Kendal and Dane.

Looking at the duo with a frown she pushed them both into one of the empty rooms. “Damn it Kendal what the hell is going on!”

Dane

It took awhile but the world finally stopped spinning for him. He glanced at Kendal and then looked at Sasha. “That’s what we want to know. One moment we get attacked by this giant snake, the next, we end up here. Caught in some trap with a weirdo who says they’re looking for two witches and–get this–we’re not in Germany.”

Dane ran his fingers through his hair. He wasn’t the type to take what some sadistic henchman said at face value but it wasn’t like they knew for sure they were in Germany. And then they were looking for two witches and despite what Kendal liked to say, he knew they’d already found them! But speaking of finding …

“… Where’s Aidan?”

[dashed=http://space-kitten.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=14]Aidan

Speaking of Aidan… he wasn’t having a very good day. As soon as Sasha had left the room, Aidan found himself hefted up in the air by this ginormous biker guy wearing antlers and a cheesy black cult robe. He planned on putting up a good fight, but there was a whole lot of them pouring in now and a few of them had spears. He didn’t want to take any chances with bikers and spears. There was just something not right about that.

The alter that was in front of the giant statue was shoved out of the way, and Aidan found himself flung unceremoniously down in to a small pit. The men topside pushed the alter right back over him. It went dark.

“…That’s not good.”
[/dashed]

[solid=http://space-kitten.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=21]Kendal

“Whatever this is, I’m pretty damned tired of it.” she replied to Sasha. Dane questioned about Aidan, and Kendal groaned out loud. Someone always ended up captured or trapped when they were separated, and Aidan had ‘gentlemen in distress’ practically tattooed on his forehead.

“That’s it. I’m done. Done! I want to go home, take a bath, and have a quiet perfectly normal dinner with people not wearing antlers and smelling like beer!” Kendal marched down the hall from whence Sasha had came. She was already pushing up her sleeves as she shoved the doors to the chamber opened.

..and promptly stopped to stare.

The room was filled with men in their dark robs, wearing antler helmets, chanting some crazy phrase that sounded too much like a bar-diddy. The giant statue in the back was starting to move, flexing it’s arms and coming to life. The forerunner of the ceremony pointed to the back towards Kendal and Sasha. “HARK! THINE WITCHES WHO SHALL GIVE YOU LIFE ON THIS PLANE!”

Kendal smacked her forehead.

Sasha noticed many things when they returned to the room. The cultists with spears, the large statue slowly starting to move, the rat in the corner, but of all the things she noticed, it was what she didn’t see that caught her attention the most. There was no Aidan.

The voice did not so much come from the statue as boomed from both above and below. The antlered men were in awe at hearing the voice of there future god and the homage, if that’s what one wanted to call it, became louder and more intense. Sasha frowned, her hands crossed over her chest.

“No, not going to happen. I’m not giving my blood or life to some pathetic excuse for a supernatural being. I mean, look at the shoddy workmenship on that,” Sasha pointed at the statue with a finger. “I mean it’s all but ready to fall apart.

Dane

Had Dane been the sort he would’ve slapped his forehead and groaned the moment Kendal went marching out. Sure, he could’ve tried to stop her but he certainly didn’t want to be the one standing in her way. He just looked at Sasha and followed right after Kendal.

Of course, any hope that they could be done with things quickly and cleanly went out the window when that huge statue started to move, they found themselves facing a bunch of fanatics, and this voice boomed out. But hey, just another day when you hung around with people like Kendal and Sasha.

“So … anyone have any plans where our chances of surviving and getting out of here in one piece is decent?” he asked as casually as if he was asking about the weather.

“I do, but you’re not going to like it.” replied Kendal. That was the problem with demigod statues, the solution to the problem always involved a big bang. The stature was already on it’s feet and slowly stomping over it’s alter to come down the aisle.

“If you’ll get Aidan out of whatever trap he’s gotten himself in to, Sasha… ” she muttered, already holding out the palm of her hand and circling her finger over it. It wasn’t going to be as easy as pointing and shooting. Her finger circled until a little red bubble about the size of her hand had form. Kendal pulled a hair pin from thin hair and… POP! The little red bubble burst! There was a drastic sense of falling followed by the whole room feeling as if it had dropped out of thin air and suddenly hit the ground.

Kendal took a step back as she caught her balance again. That took care of the blasted moving town. As for that statue… Kendal grabbed Dane’s hand to expose his palm, circled her finger over it. In his hand appeared a little stone replica of the statue. She plucked it up between her fingers. For a moment she looked confused about what she was going to do with it, but finally she squeezed it between the palms of her hands until it disappeared!

The giant walking statue hadn’t stopped it’s advancing all this while, but something strange was happening to it! With every step it took, it got smaller and smaller… Until it was standing in front of Dane and Kendal, barely taller than a garden gnome.

The tiny statue’s voice squeaked. “Give thine life to I, the elk god!”

“Hmm, I’ll pass on that.” Kendal pointed a finger at it. “Once a god, now a stone, banished until your name is unknown!” The statue gave a pitiful excuse for a screaming Nooooo as it solidified nice and stationary once again.

The entire room of cultists looked shocked and more than a little disappointed. Some even threw down their elk antlers, while others kicked at the ground and wondered of. Kendal was relieved to know that they weren’t the sort to form a mob of vengeance just because their plans were ruined. The idiots probably didn’t even realize what they were summoning in the first place.

“Well I’m extraordinarily tired now.” she muttered.

The younger Novellino sister didn’t need to hear more. If Kendal was going to take care of the problem, then the problem was already taken care of. A warning that her stomach was going to be on the ceiling would be nice, but Sasha didn’t let it get in her way as she went over and gathered up the rat.

After muttering to the rat for a few moments while petting it, she placed it back on the ground and Sasha followed it around the cultist to the alter. Then the rat found a crack in it and went under.

Knowing that Aidan was now being protected by the rat incase there were any booby traps with moving the alter, Sasha took a step back.

“Energy like wind, clutter like leaves, blow away before me this unsightly scene.” The remains of the alter did seem to tumble away and down below there was indeed someone. Sasha squatted down and smirked. “Ready to go home?”

So Aidan was stuck in a pit. Not so bad. It was quiet. Just enough room to stretch his legs. No fire, brimstone, or being slowly lowered in to a volcano or pit of piranha. Not bad at all!

A little furball dropped on his head. Whelp, nope. Looked like he was going to get devoured slowly by rats. The rat squeaked at him as it peered down over his head and twitched it’s whiskers at his nose. “Ah! Hey there Cloud. Come to the rescue?” The little rat squeaked again as the alter from above crumbled away and light shined down from above.

Blocking his eyes from the sudden light, he looked up and grinned wide. “Yeah, I’m gettin’ hungry. I think we’re missing Tali’s nightly rant on ELSWN.”

Dane

Dane surveyed the scene. Destroyed idol. Check. Scattered henchmen. Check. Rescued civilian. Check. Tired witch. Check, check, and check. He sighed and scratched his head. “I’m thinking we’re in need of a nice, long vacation. Somewhere nice and sunny and hopefully idol-free.” He gave a sideways glance to Kendal. Life was always an adventure. But with someone like Kendal, everyday was like that, too.

Dane looked up and spotted Sasha at the altar. All they had to do was round up Aidan and head home … right?

“Maybe if we hurry, we’ll catch the second half of her show.” Sasha stood up and look around, smirking as she saw some cloth that had once been on the alter. She coiled up up and then sent one end into the pit. “You won’t have to climb the wall it looks like.”

Once Aidan was out of the pit, and Cloud had scampered over to her shoulder, Sasha looked over to Kendal and Dane. “Toto, is this Kansas yet?”

“Kansas. There’s an interesting vacation spot.” Let’s see. One sister, one sister’s should-be boyfriend, one Dane who needed a vacation, and a gaggle of faeries.

On second thought, she was going to leave the faeries.

Kendal took Sasha’s hands, linking her fingers with her sisters. “There’s no place like home.” She flashed a wickedly teasing smile. Sasha would be the only one to feel that magical tingle of a cast spell, but they’d all notice that shifting under their feet, that flip-flopping sensation in their stomachs, and something that smelled like gingerbread cookies!

All four of them appeared safe and sound in the living room of the Autumn Manor. That wonderful safe and normal home… that smelled like gingerbread?

Harrison the house butler appeared in the doorway, silent as he often was, holding a tray of cookies and four mugs of a hot drink mix. He moved across the room to set it on the table, bowed softly before disappearing back to the kitchen.

Kendal fell backwards on the couch. “That was the longest two days ever. I’m never leaving this house again.”

[dashed=http://space-kitten.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=14]Aidan

Jokes about the Wizard of Oz had Aidan smiling, but it was just for a brief moment! When the world started churning along with his stomach, he was pretty glad there wasn’t anything left in there, or he might have hurled. That was not the impression he wanted to make on any girl, and he wasn’t too keen on giving Dane a chuckle either.

The moment he realized they were back in Elswen at the girl’s home, he was rubbing the back of his neck. He cast Harrison a grateful look when he brought in cookies, and instantly snatched one up to chew on. “Not how I thought I’d be spending the weekend, but it wasn’t too bad.”

Collapsing into the couch, Sasha held her cup of warm goodness and smirked. “Truth be told, I’ve had worse weekends, but I think I’d rather have a few quiet ones now.”

All in all, Sasha was happy to be back home in Autumn Manor where the wind rustled the leaves of the great trees and soft rain pitter pattered on the roof and porch outside. It was true, there was no place like home. Yet Sasha knew as she glanced first at her sister then at Aidan that home was where the heart was.

The thought caused her to hide her face with the action of sipping her drink. There wasn’t any need to say anything like that, though she did know she was going to have to tell Sam the latest adventure her and her sister had.

“Who’s up for some radio?”
