Jessica “Jez” Ermano

Role: High School Jr
Age: 16
Grade: 11th.
General Appearance: Jez sees herself as the alternative punk reject kid. She’s tall and lanky, with shaggy cut brown and grey eyes. She’s pretty but she doesn’t care. (Or rather complains that she’s not pretty like so many teenage girls do.) She doesn’t like wearing too much make up, but does favor a little black eye liner and eye shadow to get that dramatic punk look. Never, never, EVER wears a dress or skirts. It’s pants or nothing. She wears the exact same pair of sneakers every day.
Strengths: Despite what she SAYS she is, and how little interested she looks, Jez is a straight A student. She isn’t a genius or a “geek”, but she does the work quickly and efficiently. Her GPA is important to her scholarships and it makes her father happy. She likes setting things on fire and trashing junk, which has turned in to a surprisingly constructive hobby of making art sculptures with scrap metal she finds.
Weaknesses: Poor social skills. She is rude much too often. Jez has a short attention span for anything that doesn’t seem worthy of her time – which inevitably ends up being everything but making sure her schoolwork is done. She hates exercise and sports, nor does she like to eat very much. Jez has very little physical endurance or strength.
General Personality: GRR. Get out of my face, stay away from me. Jez deliberately makes herself out to be the no-friends, loner, black sheep, bad attitude, troublemaker. She’s snarky, rude, often times mean, and inappropriate. Sometimes she might come down off her high horse to socialize with all the lower people, but more often than not, she’s in a corner someone listening to her mp3 player and pretending she doesn’t exist. Everything just seems to piss her off, and she has no control over it.
Inner Personality A confused directionless teenage girl. She’s thrown herself head first in to the punk/grunge culture thinking that it’s the best thing to represent her unique style and individuality. But when she actually seriously thinks about who she is and what she believes in, she comes up blank. Jez hasn’t lived a happy lala life, but she didn’t exactly have hard times either. She doesn’t have any goals or dreams for the future, and has decided instead of getting depressed or being emo about it, she’ll ignore it and say she doesn’t care.
General History: Jez’s father was a small time criminal in the inner city. Petty crimes, theft, fights, a little thug work here and there. Getting busted for a major theft just after finding out his sweetheart (a waitress at a local bar) was pregnant, he chose to reform his life and take care of his kid. After his three year sentence, he came out of prison to marry his sweetie and started working with the cops as an aid and underground informant.
That didn’t go over well with some, he ended up helping dig up some information that busted a few corrupt cops. Not liking some ex-con blowing their good setup, they raided his home under the guise of a drug bust. Jez’s mother ended up being shot and killed in the chaos, her father beaten. Five year old Jez stayed hidden under the bed until her father and the REAL cops finally pulled her out. Despite having what happened explained to her, she was always a bit twitchy around the police afterwards.
After that night, Jez’s father raised her on his own, opting to find a safer job doing car sales and repairs. He worked hard to take good care of them, and life was pretty normal. Jez did her best to make things easier by excelling in school so she’d be eligible for scholarships. Unfortunately, she still doesn’t know what she wants to do once high school is over. She’ll figure it out when she gets there.
Goals/Purpose: Graduate High School with Honors. Beyond that… she has no idea. Her life has no direction. She literally just takes it one day at a time.
